HUMMUS 101

HUMMUS!

As I am sure you guys know, I am a huge hummus lover. It is a staple in my fridge and something I have at least 4x week. With BBQ season upon us, I knew this was the perfect time to share with you guys how I incorporate hummus into my meals and why I love it so much.

Hummus 101:

Hummus is a mediterranean dip/spread made from chickpeas, sesame seeds (tahini), garlic and lemon juice – recipes vary, but this is the gist of it! Once the ingredients are pureed and blended together it creates a creamy texture.

#SabraFeelGoodFood:

On occasion I make my own, but to be honest I usually purchase it pre-made because there are delicious options available at the grocery store. My go to brand for quite some time now is Sabra. They offer delicious flavours which means I can switch it up depending on my mood or the meal I’m pairing it with and everything is gluten free & vegan!

How I Use Sabra Hummus:

BBQ Season + Entertaining

As a Dip: This is THE dip to have out when your guests arrive! I like to pair it with cut up veggies (fresh or even grilled is amazing), or sometimes toasted mini pitas or rice crackers. Unlike most other dips, hummus is naturally low fat and made with  really simple ingredients.  It’s convenient, light, plant based and delicious. I am always on a mission to make healthy choices without jeopardizing flavour and I know when I choose hummus I’m getting exactly that- something nourishing and packed with flavour.

As a Bowl Topper:

When I am feeling like eating a big bowl of goodness (which is almost always) the best way I like to finish it off is with a dollop of hummus on the top. I like to put a bit on my fork before diving in to each bite. It’s the perfect accompaniment that adds great savoury flavour.
