While I love to meal prep and cook, truth be told, it doesn’t always happen! There are so many great spots in Toronto to grab a healthy bite to eat, but sometimes the choices can get overwhelming.
Here, I’ve rounded up 10 Healthy Grab and Go Spots in Toronto!
Greenhouse Juice Co.
Greenhouse Juice has multiple locations and is one of the best spots in the city to grab a cold-pressed juice, house-made nut-milks and plant protein bars. My favourite juice for on-the-go is “The Good,” which has organic cucumber, spinach, romaine, celery, lemon, fermented lemongrass and Himalayan salt. It’s the perfect pick-me-up and is full of amazing nutrients and greens. I will say though that I have fell in love with their probiotic strawberry lemonade- it’s low in sugar and full of nutrients! p.s Greenhouse has expanded outside of the GTA. You can find their products in select Sobeys, Farm Boy, Metro, Fortinos, Ontario and Quebec—and they just expanded into Atlantic Canada through Sobeys!

FLOCK
This place is DREAMS! Incredible salads and chicken. They’ve got a full-service location as well as many grab-and-go options. What I love about FLOCK is that the rotisserie chicken used in their dishes is hormone & antibiotic-free, free run & Halal. They’ve got nutrient-packed salads, bowls, soups and sides and have options to make them vegetarian and even vegan. My personal fave is the Power Flock Salad with no cilantro and sometimes I like to add chicken for protein.

Impact Kitchen
This is one of my absolute favourite spots in the city to sit down but also grab a quick and clean bite when I’m faced with a busy day! They’ve got protein-packed bowls, soups and sweets to take with you in the car and on the run. Their kitchen is gluten-free which is a sweet bonus and they have plenty of paleo and vegan options too! I love getting the Harvest Bowl. It’s got delicious ingredients like roasted Brussels Sprouts, quinoa and pickled red onions. Sometimes I like adding falafel or salmon to make it an extra protein-packed meal.
Freshii
If you saw the epic rainbow falafel wrap I made at Freshii than you know it’s just one of the many yummy wraps, bowls and salads that they offer. They’ve got a premade menu that you can choose from or you can make your own using a long list of healthy and delicious ingredients. I typically like creating my own recipe. They have locations all across the city as well as grab-and-go fridges in Shell gas stations!

iQ Food Co.
Such a cool spot that focuses on sustainability and using local, seasonal ingredients for their revolving menu. They’ve got smoothies, bowls, toasts, sweets and snacks and everything is made with real, whole foods. They’ve got a bunch of locations for you to swoop by and snag a quick bite. The Miso Miso is great – I love adding more arugula in place of brown rice to get more greens in.

Whole Foods
I go to the Yorkville location a ton because it’s in the same building at Soul Cycle. The Yorkville location offers smoothies, coffees and a full salad bar with grain salads, greens and lots of proteins to choose from. They price the salads by weight though, so remember that before you go crazy! PRO TIP: You can also get a bulletproof coffee from the Whole Foods Cafe, which is delicious.
Nutbar
Nutbar is one of my favourite places to not only get a loaded superfood latte but also a healthy snack that can sometimes even double as my meal. They’ve got two locations and both offer a variety of healthy, superfood-focused snacks like smoothies, protein balls & bars, toasts (the avo toast is amazing!), salads and bowls. The Vanilla Smoothie is I Hart approved – I usually get it with just one date for less sugar.

Kupfert and Kim
K&K is one of my favourite quick-service spots that also happens to be meatless (plant-based) and wheatless! They’ve got seven locations (and soon an eighth!) that offer a variation of smoothies, sweets, bowls and salads as well as a sweet all-day breakfast menu. The Tahini Cauliflower bowl is currently on heavy rotation for me. It’s got super wholesome ingredients like quinoa, roasted cauliflower, beets and organic greens and the za’atar salsa and lemon tahini sauce combo is killer!

Pantry (Rosedale)
Pantry offers nutritious customizable meals that are made to order and take with you or eat in-house. You pick your combo, your protein and your sides from both the Hot and Cold Tables and just like that, you’re good to go! They’ve got gluten-free, vegan, and dairy-free options as well. I usually like getting a combo of the kale salad, greek salad the salmon. PRO TIP: try the couscous – it might not be the healthiest but it is so delicious.

Palm Lane
Salad enthusiasts know that this is the spot to get an epic salad. They’ve got smoothies, snacks and bowls but the fully-loaded salads put every other to shame. You can choose from the menu or build your own for a healthy, never-boring take on getting in your greens on-the-go. My go-to is the Greek Goddess salad which takes a normal greek salad and makes it more exciting with yummy ingredients like pepperoncini, quinoa and yoghurt! I like to add chicken to get more protein in.
