Contrary to popular belief, avocado’s are actually considered a “fruit” rather than vegetable.
Avocados offer a creamy texture and can be added to both sweet and savoury dishes. Not only
do they offer delicious flavour, but they are loaded with nutrients and healthy fats. Chances are,
the avocados you purchase from your grocery store or fruit market are a product from Mexico.
Avocados from Mexico are I HART approved, and I partnered with them during Nutrition Month of which Avocados from Mexico are an official sponsor to explain why our favourite green toast topping is really that awesome!
When I speak to my Nutrition clients, I often use this metaphor: treat your body the way you
would a fancy sports car! In other words, fuel your body with top notch fuel in order for it to
perform optimally. Our bodies require 3 types of macro nutrients that make up that ‘fuel’ for us to
function: healthy fat, protein, and carbs. Don’t be fooled by the F word…healthy FAT is
ESSENTIAL! Avocados offer high quality healthy fat, with low levels of cholesterol. Healthy fat in
the body is responsible for healthy skin, hormones, brain function, and more! Are you officially
I first started my avocado journey with staples like guacamole and avocado toast, but I’ve
honestly reached a point where I enjoy it with most meals! Avocados are perfect for any time of
the day whether it’s a breakfast staple, lunch, diner, snacks and even desserts and drinks. They are staple in my diet and I enjoy
1⁄4-1⁄2 an avocado every single day.
5 reasons I HART Avocados:
1. Keeps you full- the fiber in avocados help you feel satiated and also balance your blood
2. Glowing skin- healthy fat promotes glowy youthful skin
3. Healthy Vision- loaded with antioxidants “lutein” and “ zeaxanthin” that promote healthy
4. Strong Bones- high in Vitamin K that promotes strong bones!
5. Heart healthy- rich in monounsaturated fatty acids which promotes a healthy heart
If you guys follow me on IG, you know I am a huge proponent of a savoury breakfast! A
Mediterranean bowl is a staple for me because it’s loaded in healthy fat, fiber and protein and
keeps me full for hours!
