Is white sugar really THAT bad for you?

sugarA question I hear all too often: “Is white sugar really THAT bad for you?”- YES.

White sugar (also known as refined sugar) is processed, addictive, mineral depleting, and simply–totally crappy for your health.

Containing zero nutritional benefits, the body has no way to metabolize white sugar, forcing you to leach vital nutrients from your healthy cells, such as sodium, potassium, and magnesium.

Here, 10 reasons white sugar is BAD for you:

  1. Suppresses the immune system
  2. Empty calories
  3. Damages the liver
  4. Hormonal imbalances
  5. Causes insomnia
  6. Hyperactive disorders
  7. Triggers eczema
  8. Increases bad cholesterol
  9. Promotes weight gain
  10. Depletes energy

Most packaged and processed foods are laden with white sugar and high fructose corn syrup. So even if you are not into ice cream, cookies, and cakes – you’re still (most likely) NOT in the clear. If you are not preparing your own foods, you may be a victim of white sugar invasion.

Things to look out for?  A few examples are breads, muffins, salad dressings, pizzas, crackers, BBQ  sauces, and KETCHUP.  Start reading labels and avoid foods that include white sugar in the first 3 ingredients.

Have a healthy day!
