Just a few of my fave greens in honour of St Pattys Day.
Kale– Helps to play a detoxification role in the body. Be sure to stock up –your body will thank you for this natural detox remedy after you guzzle a few too many beers on Saturday. Lightly steam it to maximize its nutritional benefits.
Spinach– The vitamin K in one cup of fresh spinach has almost 200% of your daily value. Vitamin K is important for bone health, and prevents excessive bleeding by promoting blood clotting.
Cucumber– Cucumbers are the 4th most widely cultivated vegetable in the world. They are 95% water- So if you are not an avid water drinking, say hello to cucumbers!
Avocados– Not only are avocados full of fiber and healthy fats, but they actually promote the absorption of fat soluble phytonutrients (i.e nutrients that promote human life).
Swiss Chard– Though chard may not be as popular as other greens, it sure wins big with it’s impressive nutritional profile. Chard has unique blood sugar regulation benefits, and is an excellent source of Vitamin C.
